Can Google Rid the World of Cyberattacks?

In Blog No Comments

According to recent reports, a new team at Google is aiming to be the cybersecurity superheroes of the Internet. The special team is called Google Project Zero, and they're looking to eliminate those nasty computer bugs that let hackers and government spies sneak into our computer -- not just for Google, but for everyone.

Made up of some of the world's smartest hackers, the Project Zero team spends their days poking at holes in computer code we all rely on -- and ensuring those holes get patched. The Project Zero name comes from the very types of bugs the team aims to eliminate: "zero day" vulnerabilities, which are unknown software holes that hackers love to exploit.

There's clearly a need for this kind of help.

The frequency and severity of cybercrime is an exploding pain point for many. Businesses and organizations across the globe continue to suffer from targeted attacks that undermine privacy and financial safety, and no one is completely immune.

According to Symantec’s 2014 Internet Security Threat Report, there was a 91% increase in targeted attacks/campaigns in 2013, and a 62% increase in the number of breaches in 2013. The number of data breaches experienced and reported is only expected to increase, unless a team of geniuses with superpower coding skills can come to the rescue.

Do you think Google’s Project Zero can help save the day?
